The M4X Rifle (M4X) is a Primary Receiver that was released with the Onslaught patch (v1.100) for Blacklight: Retribution.

Weapon Overview

The M4X Rifle was first seen in the exclusive ArmCom M4x Collector's Kit as a premade weapon. It is based on the M4 Carbine, and in-game it is functionally similar as a cross between the Assault Rifle and the Submachine Gun.

Tactics

The M4X Rifle's effective range is less than the AR but greater than the SMG and similarly has a higher firerate than AR but less than the SMG. In addition, it has a higher damage range and less overall Spread when compared solely to the SMG.

This weapon has excellent Hip and Move Spread enabling players to easily obtain kills at close and medium range without aiming down the sights. Even when customizing the M4X Rifle with +damage parts, the Hip and Move Spread is still very manageable.

One common build is the use of +damage parts to bring the M4X Rifle up 50 damage. This enables players to 4-shot enemy players that use the default armor or 200 health. The fast firerate combined with 50 damage per bullet can give a large advantage in CQC fights versus players using the AR or SMG.

This weapon's downside is only apparent when fighting players at medium-long or long range. The M4X Rifle's range is only 40/80 while the AR's range is 70/110. The weapon's short range will reduce its damage at longer ranges and players should be mindful of this fact before engaging enemies at longer ranges. However, if a player is competent enough to land headshots with the near recoil-less and spread-less M4X Rifle, the short range is an easily surmountable obstacle.

Ammunition

There are 5 different magazines available for the M4X Rifle.

Premade Variants
